About Lori

Lori Harvey is an accomplished senior level professional with demonstrated expertise in leading change, leading people, managing teams, building collaborations and is results driven. She is a dedicated thought leader for effective outcomes with experience in helping organizations and companies translate goals into reality in the areas of STEM education, workforce development, and diversity.
 
As the manager of Hitachi’s Inspire STEM Educational Outreach and CSR Programs with Hitachi High Technologies America, Inc., Ms. Harvey’s role is to develop globalization of the educational outreach program by defining partnerships and collaborations among industry, educators and policy makers.  As a Senior Program Manager of Education, Outreach and Workforce Development with Pennsylvania State University, Ms. Harvey collaborated with many entities to contribute to developing a STEM / Workforce Development ecosystem for global competitiveness.  Ms. Harvey is the co-founder of Female Alliance for STEM Excellence (FASE) and participates in many state and national advisory boards.  She is involved in various non-profits and start-up companies. She holds a BA in Pre-Law/English from La Roche College in Pittsburgh, PA

About her Talk, "Importance of STEM"

The United States faces a well-known challenge: it must develop a larger, qualified workforce in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) to thrive in a technology-driven global economy.
The expansion of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields in the United States is imperative for innovation and global competitiveness. And yet, women remain an underused resource in achieving our nation’s STEM goals.

This workshop will present:

·         What are the STATS of Women in STEM
·         Cultivating the desire to pursue STEM Careers

·         Addressing Unique Barriers

This talk will provide an overview of women in STEM, show research results to overcoming barriers and addressing unique barrier females face.
