The Life Science Women's Conference welcomes Wonder Woman, Cherie Mathews, back to the 2020 Life Science Women's Conference!

Cherie started her career in the field of Computer Engineering specializing in Research and Development as well as Failure Analysis with special task force projects for NASA with IBM in Burlington Vermont. After her career with IBM, Cherie followed her passion for education and taught Physical Education for eighteen years while raising their two children. While teaching, Cherie proudly co-pioneered The First Tee National School Program which started with forty-eight students and has been instrumental in reaching over 10 million young people for The First Tee organization throughout the USA.

Cherie is a nineteen-year breast cancer survivor and to turn a bad thing into a good thing for others she is the Founder and CEO of an Austin, Texas-based company that has won many Innovative Awards and has been nationally and internationally recognized. The name of her company is named Healincomfort, appropriately named because from personal experience it was the last thing that occurred. Healincomfort is dedicated to helping women heal in comfort and dignity after mastectomy surgery in their battle against breast cancer with her patented and innovative post-operative garment. Cherie chose to bootstrap her business as a social experiment with one thousand dollars to learn if people still believed in a good product and whether it was possible to grow a business organically and by word of mouth. Healincomfort recovery garment holds two USA patents, one global patent-pending,  four USA Trademarks and has thousands of Twitter followers. Healincomfort was first created to help 100 local Austin, Texas patients, which has turned into helping over thirty-five thousand patients throughout the USA. Recent awards and recognition include the 2018 Global Woman Inspirational Award, 2016 Austin Woman Magazine Woman's Way Award for Product Innovation. Healincomfort was one of the fifteen SBA National finalists for the 2015 InnovateHER business pitch competition in Washington, DC, winner of the 2015 Texas Women In Business Philanthropy and winner of the 2014 Award and Austin Woman Chamber of Commerce Blazing Star Award. Healincomfort was a Certified Woman-Owned Business with WBENC, WOSB, HUB and nationally recognized as a WBENC Lillie Knox Foundation Award winner. Cherie is an active member of Amazing Women Alliance, Texas Women in Business. An international speaker in London England for “Undefeeted” -Achieve the Impossible.  Recently Cherie has been active in angel investing in Women-Owned Businesses and startups such as Miraculum, On The Dot Woman, Cars Her Way, and Economic Transformation Technologies. Cherie also serves as an advisor and partner for Envision ELI Technology and has incorporated ELI technology into her Healincomfort Recovery Shirt line that offers innovation and the most powerful cancer-based platforms in the world within a one-second scan.

Cherie was the co-founder, advisor and Certified Master National Trainer for The First Tee National School Program who trained and certified Physical Education teachers across the United States to implement the National School Program and it's 9 Core Values and 9 Healthy Habits. Cherie also proudly served on the board of The First Tee of Greater Austin for ten years, which provides a safe and educational place for children to get them off the streets and onto green grass.  In her spare time (hah!), Cherie enjoys playing golf and riding BMW motorcycles all over the world and most recently throughout Germany, Australia, Switzerland, Italy, and Scotland. She rides her sportbike BMW S1000RR on COTA -Formula One Track with her husband Adam on track days. She and her husband who is the Division Vice President for Waste Connections, a three-time Ironman and three-time Boston Marathon qualifier. Cherie and Adam have two amazing children, Ashley and Adam, who also live in Austin TX along with their two rescue dogs, Abby and Bear."
