Life science facility design is a challenging topic in the construction industry, due to its complex requirement and functionality. From the perspective of a female engineer, life science building design is a rewarding challenge, because its unique position of propelling the world to a better place. What we do truly makes a difference, either in pharmaceutical testing facilities, or academic research buildings. As a female engineer, I will discuss the life science building design focusing on sustainability, aesthetics, people, and diversity.

Ms. Wang has a wide range of experience with challenging laboratory design projects for higher education and private industry clients, in both new construction and renovation projects. Melody has also led successful sustainability program compliance and energy modeling efforts for large-scale institutional projects.

Her design experience includes HVAC and control systems for research laboratories, pharmaceutical development facilities, industrial product development & testing laboratories, NMR imaging suites, food test laboratories, and etc.

Melody is involved with projects from conceptual planning through design and construction administration, including challenging phased renovations in continuously operating facilities.
